August 28, 2012: India's provisional iron ore exports in 2011-12 was around 61.80 million tons (mt), down 36.72% from 97.66 mt in 2010-11, steel minister Beni Prasad Verma said on August 27.
In 2009-10, iron ore exports from India were around 117.37 mt.
Domestic consumption provisionally increased to 116.30 mt, marginally up from 111.40 mt in the 2010-11, the steel minister said.
