About 8,955 km of state highways have been declared as national highways (NHs), which may be taken up for construction after preparation of feasibility reports on the basis of surveys conducted on these NHs as per the requirement of such studies, Mansukh L Mandaviya, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, said in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha recently.
The target fixed for construction of national highways (NHs) in the current financial year of 2016-17 is 15,000 km.
Since May, 2014 a total of 12,155 km of national highways (NHs) have been constructed, the minister further said.
