The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Fire Wing observed Fire Service Day at the Salem Steel Plant on Tuesday.
N. Tamilarasan, General Manager, SSP, K. Karthikeyan, Deputy Commandant, CISF and O. P. Sharma, Assistant Commandant-Fire, CISF, paid tributes to the martyrs by placing wreaths at the Martyrs Column at the fire station.
Mr. Karthikeyan spoke on the fire safety awareness campaigns proposed by the CISF Fire Wing during this week to educate the employees of SSP and their families.
Mr. Tamilarasan underlined the importance of fire safety awareness with the employees connected with the industry.
He inaugurated the distribution of pamphlets on fire prevention and fire safety and urged the people to adopt safe house keeping practices and use only approved electrical appliances.
Mr. Tamilarasan also flagged off safety rally from the SSP Fire Station to township.
The Fire Station will organise activities such as mock drill, display of safety posters, essay writing competition, first aid and fire fighting spot classes, good house keeping inspection, lecture demonstration on fire prevention and protection will be organised during the week long observance of fire service week at the Salem Steel Plant, till April 20.
