East Singhbhum district administration has sought a report from Tata Steel on the sub lease issue. It also proposed to conduct a review of the sub lease cases of the company once again in a meeting with the company officials at his office on Wednesday.
The deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Amitabh Kaushal, who held a meeting to review all cases of sub lease, said the land and revenue department had earlier issued a letter to the commissioner of Kolhan on 17th September in the year 2012 for conducting a review of the sub lease cases once again. He said the report should be submitted by the company officials as soon as possible for compliance with the orders of the state government.
Tata Steel vice president (corporate services) Sunil Bhaskaran and chief legal officer of Tata Steel Corporate Services Department Meena Lal represented the company during the meeting. They said the sub lease case was under consideration in the Jharkhand High Court and hence it should not be reviewed once again.
Rejecting the plea, the DC cited the revenue department order as a reason for seeking the report from the company on the sub lease cases.
Sources said the revenue ministry had asked the commissioner to conduct a review of cases in which action had been taken and to find out as to at what level consent was given in regard to all proposals and identify as to whether the sub lease was given in accordance with the objectives of the original lease for development (industrial, municipal and cultural) in public interest or to private builders for private or commercial benefits, sources said.
