India’s crude steel production in July 2016 rose 0.6% to 8.08 million tons (mt) over the June 2016 production level of 8.03 mt, latest provisional steel ministry data showed.
In July 2015, crude steel production was at 7.47 mt. This shows that crude steel production rose 8.1% year-on-year.
In April-July, production by integrated steel producers like SAIL, RINL, Tata Steel, JSW, Essar and JSPL stood at 17.50 mt.
Production by other steel producers rose 1.1% to 14.18 mt in April-July, 2016.
Total crude steel production in the April-July period of 2016-17 was up 5.9% to 31.69 mt as against 29.91 mt seen in the same period last year.
