Major domestic iron ore companies produced 21.32 million tonnes of iron ore concentrates during March 21st 2014 to January 20th 2015.
The figure indicates a 6% growth compared to that of the corresponding period the previous year which was 20.1 million tonnes
The companies included Chadormalou (8.68 million tons), Gol e Gohar (7.17 million tonnes), Markazi (2.15 million tonnes), Middle East Mines and Minerals (2.08 million tonnes) and Sangan (1.22 million tonnes).
During the said period, eight major domestic mining companies produced 8.83 million tons of iron ore granules. They included Chadormalou, Gol-e Gohar, Markazi, Sangan, Jalal-Abad, Mishdovan, Sirjan and Iranian Central Plateau Iron Ore Mines Complex.
In October 2014, Mr Sajjad Qoroqi, a member of the Association of Iron Ore Producers and Exporters, said that Iran produces two percent of the world's iron ore. Brazil, Australia and South Africa are the world's major iron ore exporters.
