After showing a mixed trend in the previous week, pig iron prices eased in the majority of Indian markets but showed an uptrend in Ghaziabad during the week ended February 6, according to information available with ISMW.
The general weakness in pig iron prices bucked the upbeat mood in other segments of steel products and raw materials and was attributed to the low demand from the casting units.
Prices were down by Rs 100 to Rs 700 per ton in Batala, Ludhiana and Jalandhar during the week.
Ghaziabad, however, showed a hefty increase of Rs 2,000 per ton on a weekly basis after witnessing a flat trend since the second week last month.
Earlier, pig iron prices lost some shine during the week ended January 30 after a firm trend a week ago.
