Under the leadership of Director Incharge BSL Amarendu Prakash, Bokaro Steel Plant has the distinction of developing special grade of steel for the first time in SAIL. The Hot-Dip Galvanizing Line (HDGL) at Cold Rolling Mill-3 (CRM-3) of SAIL-Bokaro Steel Plant has developed High Strength galvanized coil having YS (Yield Strength) greater than 350 MPa with high coating thickness of 450 GSM for the first time in SAIL.
The grade has been made in accordance with IS 277:2018 GP350&EN 10346: S350GD+Z350 GSM. This product will cater to the market of Grain and Food Storage Silos Manufacturing Sector as an import substitute. Indigenously developed steel from Bokaro Steel Plant will help strengthen the mission of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” as there is a huge demand for this type of special steel in the country.
Executive Director (Works) BSL Atanu Bhowmik, congratulated the team of CRM-3, R&C Lab and SAIL’s RDCIS unit for successful development of such high strength galvanized steel with coating thickness 450 GSM in cost effective way in a very short span of time. BSL in association with RDCIS has developed the GP350+450GSM after several Lab and plant trials. After successful trial, around 300 tonne of materials have been processed. Rajan Prasad, CGM, CRM-3, P S Kannan, CGM (Quality),N Mondal, CGM(RDCIS) along with team of K K Singh, GM(CRM-3), Mahesh Singh, AGM(CRM-3), Santosh Kumar, AGM(RDCIS),Parichay Bhattacharjee Manager(CRM-3), Roselin Dodrae, DGM (RCL), Nikhil Pratap Singh, Manager(RCL)were actively involved in successful development of GP350+450GSM.
