Northbound lanes of the Red Hill Valley Parkway at Greenhill Avenue reopened late Monday afternoon after a transport truck lost a load full of metal debris.
All northbound lanes, south of Greenhill, were initially closed after the 10:18 a.m. crash. One lane opened around 12:15 a.m.
Hamilton police Staff Sgt. Scott Balinson said the trailer on the large transport flipped over in the single-vehicle crash Monday morning, spilling scrap metal all over the roadway.
The cab of the truck did not roll over and there were no reported injuries, he said.
Cleanup was expected to take until roughly 4 p.m. with crews initially using a large magnet to pick up the metal debris and then a street sweeper.
Staff Sgt. Maggie Schoen said it appears the tractor trailer blew a tire.
It wasn't the only crash on the RHVP Monday morning.
Police are also investigating a two-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes near Queenston Road shortly before 9:30 a.m.
Three people were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Schoen said.
