An indication of a firm trend witnessed in thermo-mechanically-treated (TMT) rods till the middle of the week did not last as prices softened a bit on low demand during the week ending January 23.
The weak trend was witnessed in markets across the country.
Restricted demand from organised real estate is affecting demand and, as such, prices are ruling soft with a downward bias, market sources said.
Demand from the infrastructure segment is not an encouraging one and, according to industry experts, the government’s spending on big projects is much below expectations.
