Asia’s markets for steel scrap witnessed another mixed week over September 17-24, with prices in some regions such as China and India showing signs of weakening, while those in Taiwan and Japan climbed, according to Mysteel’s weekly survey.
In China, Mysteel’s steel scrap price index edged down for the second week by another Yuan 18.3/tonne ($2.8/t) on week to Yuan 3,695.3/t on delivery and including the 13% VAT. Behind the price decrease was lower scrap consumption among domestic steel mills because of the stringent curbs imposed on steel producers nationwide
