Nagpur: Surjagad Ispat Private Limited, which is slated to come up with the second major
industry in the Maoist-affected Gadchiroli district, will be holding groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of its integrated steel plant project in the presence of the state’s
deputy chief ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar on July 17.
The project entails an investment of ₹10,000 crore
as the company plans to pump in around ₹2,500 crore for the first phase of the
project, which is expected to be ready by the year 2026.
State’s
industries minister Uday Samant and minister for FDA Dharamrao Baba Atram will
also attend the event on July 17.
The company plans to start the construction work
for the first phase soon, and leveling of the area and compounding is expected
to be completed in three months. The first phase will comprise two direct
reduced iron (DRI) units each with per day capacity of 650 tonnes, apart from a
70MW captive power plant. The company also plans to make billets at its plants,
said a source.
