The mission has proposed pilot
projects for replacing fossil fuels and fossil fuel-based feedstocks with Green
Hydrogen and its derivatives
The newly launched National
Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) has identified three key sectors for the pilot
projects in order to replace fossil fuel with green hydrogen.
Steel, long-range heavy-duty
mobility, energy storage, and shipping are the hard-to-abate sectors that would
take up the projects for using green hydrogen.
The Union Cabinet last week approved
an initial outlay of Rs 19,500 crore for the mission, which Prime Minister
Narendra Modi had announced in his speech on the 75th Independence Day in 2021.
According to the plan released by
the new and renewable energy ministry on Friday, for other hard-to-abate
sectors, the mission has proposed pilot projects for replacing fossil fuels and
fossil fuel-based feedstocks with green hydrogen and its derivatives.
