South Korea’s Hyundai Steel on
Wednesday said its Ulsan Factory 2 in the southern coastal city of Ulsan
received certification as an offshore wind power plant from the Norway-based
global classification organization DNV.
Producing steel and line pipes for offshore wind power, the facility is the
country’s first to receive the designation.
“By obtaining this certification, we’ve met the basic conditions for
compatibility certification for domestic and overseas offshore wind power
projects, which will greatly help land orders for related projects,” a company
source said. “We've received recognition for our global competitiveness in
offshore wind power.”
Based on client-requested specifications, Hyundai Steel supplies energy-related
steel pipe such as high-strength thick models used in the lower structures of
offshore wind power generators.
