POSCO has been selected as the "world's most competitive steelmaker" for the 12th consecutive year. World Steel Dynamics (WSD), a world-renowned steel analyst, selected POSCO as the world's best steel company at the 36th Steel Success Strategies held in Miami of the United States for two days from Nov. 8 to 9 (U.S. local time).
POSCO received full marks in seven categories for two consecutive years -- high value-added products, processing costs, technology innovation, human resources, new growth drivers, investment environment and national risk factors. In particular, this year, the company recorded a perfect score in financial soundness thanks to efforts to secure raw materials preemptively and reduce the group’s debt ratio.
Founded in 1999, WSD annually evaluates 35 major steel companies around the world in terms of 23 items and announces their competitiveness rankings. The rankings are used as an important reference index to size up the performances and future development potential of major global steelmakers.
